CONTAMINATED SITE REMEDIATION LAW

Contaminated Site Remediation Law in Austria

The Austrian Contaminated Sites Act regulates the obligation to pay a contaminated site contribution for certain waste management activities on the one hand and the recording, assessment, securing and remediation of contaminated sites on the other. The new Contaminated Sites Remediation Act (AltlastensanierungsG), which has been in force since 1 January 2025, regulates liability for contaminated sites in a completely new way.

What we do: We review potential exemptions from the contribution obligation, support and represent you during audits by the customs authorities, and handle your determination procedure for the contamination contribution. We advise and represent you in your contaminated sites remediation project, including with respect to funding matters. We also provide advice and representation if you wish to avoid liability for securing or remediating a contaminated site.
