Environmental Impact Assessment in Austria
First introduced in Austria in 1993, re-enacted in 2000 and amended several times since then, the Environmental Impact Assessment Act (UVP-G 2000) regulates the systematic assessment of the environmental impact of major projects and their focussed approval. EIA procedures are complex, generate a great deal of work for applicants and authorities and often take several years. Not every project that exceeds the threshold values of the EIA Act 2000 must be subject to an EIA; at best, an EIA can be avoided by means of an upstream EIA determination procedure (EIA individual case assessment).
What we do: EIA determination procedures and EIA authorisation procedures are one of our specialities. Since our law firm was founded, we have successfully handled countless EIA authorisation procedures and EIA determination procedures in all federal states. We know how EIA procedures work.
